Day It Hit the Fan: Memoirs of a Reluctant Politician by Dr. Albert Jacob
For the first sixty years of his life Dr. Jacob grew up, was educated and worked as a general medical practitioner in the Scottish city of Dundee. He had academic interests in addition to his clinical work. He initiated several research projects which resulted in a number of publications, and earned two post-graduate degrees based on his research; an unusual achievement for practitioners of his generation. But in 1980 a massive boulder was thrown into this placid pool. The Dundee town council had decided to twin with Nablus in the West Bank as a gesture of solidarity with the PLO. Dr Jacob found himself opposing this move and matters became even more uncomfortable after the Lebanese war in 1982. In due course these controversies quietened down but were replaced with local activities of Nazi activists. This was a new conflict in which his old adversaries became allies. This book is the story of these activities. Dr Jacob now lives in Beer Sheva, Israel.
